Prevalence and statistics of blindness in 6 regions of the world divided by the world health organization [WHO] on vision 2020 on February 18, 1999 are Africa, America-includes North, South and Latin America, Europe, Eastern Mediterranean, South East Asia, Western Pacific. Globally at present 285 million people are visually impaired, out of which 45 million are blind. Every 5 sec one person goes blind around the world. The Highest prevalence of blindness in the world is seen in African region about 19% and lowest prevalence of blindness is seen in Europe 1.75%. Cataract is leading cause of blindness followed by uncorrected refractive error, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration. River blindness and trachoma are the infectious causes of blindness but more prevalent in African region. Vitamin A deficiency, amblyopia, strabismus are causes for blindness among. Research work done on Social and psychological behaviour of blind people done in more than 10 blind schools in India, the recreational activities and talents of various blind people, research studies on various materials used by them in their day to day activities like Braille interpoint slate, tellers frame, abacus, cane, braille watch, braille mobile, smart glasses, their usage will be presented as photographs and video demonstrations.
